Learning Support

Whether you have been homeschooling for years; are considering stepping away from traditional schooling; or simply want to focus on how to support your child at home, you are searching for educational options for your child.

Every home, every family, and every child is unique. I listen as you share your child’s interests and the skills you feel he/she is developing at this time.

Then I assist you with the guidance and resources to create the learning environment and activities that work for your family.

It’s an intimate, personal experience that encourages a rich learning environment at home. I hope that your understanding of what it means to guide your child deepens through the time we spend together.

Customized support that works for you…

  • Through conversation, we review what you’d like learning to look like and explore how you can guide your child in age-appropriate ways. Then we create a plan with the services you need.

Services are provided in person or over zoom.

A typical Discovery Session is one hour and costs $50. Other costs are determined through conversation with you.

    Read more about services below!

  • I share simple tips and easy adaptations to create a sensible routine and build your child’s independence and participation in family life.

  • A unique component of what I offer is support for YOU. I guide you in your experience of how to meet your child where they are. This gives you time to explore your child’s progress and determine what you need to build your child’s capacity for learning.

We become a team together, sharing in your child’s growth as they adapt and find their place in this world.

Some examples of what we address are how to build academic skills like reading and writing; how to build concentration/focus; how to handle transitions; peer or sibling relationships; and how to establish habits/routines.

Resources, tools, and strategies are provided as needed. We meet on the phone or through Zoom. We can also meet in person if you are scheduling 1:1 lessons or coming to the farm.

  • Lessons encourage practice/repetition of specific skills.

Sometimes it helps to see how to give a particular activity or lesson. I can model specific curricular lessons to you, or give the lesson to your child for you.

Lessons are determined based on specific skills you want to address and can be over Zoom or in person.

  • If you have a concern about how your child is doing academically, individualized evaluations that assess literacy and numeracy skills are provided. We then meet to discuss results and recommendations. You learn what skills you need to target with your child and how to monitor and track progress. You are also connected with other resources if more formal evaluation is necessary.

    Cost: $150

  • There is an online library of resources to support learning at home. Materials for lessons are listed based on academic skill or curricular focus. Other materials are related to what we are currently exploring at the farm or studio. Book lists, videos, games, and activities are also provided to encourage exploration at home.

What People Are Saying

“Megan has a true gift for working with children and families. I am always grateful for her observations about my children. Her insight comes from a place of love and wonder. She has guided me through challenging times of parenting and helped me remember what gifts I have as well. My son loves to explore the natural world with her and always feels welcome to be around her. I am forever grateful for her guidance!”

Emma Young

“I cannot say enough good things about Megan and the positive impact she has had on our family. Megan has been coming over to share lessons with my daughter for the past school year. She is so attuned to my daughter and can meet her just where she needs - she is aware of which areas of learning she is ripe for and also which areas she is working through. She teaches to the whole child - engaging knowledge but also fine and gross motor skills, interpersonal skills, creativity, and emotional development. Through observing Megan, and through our conversations, Megan has made me a better parent and has taught me how to talk to my children, how to set up rhythms for the day, and how to create an environment where the children have agency - inspiring self-confidence, creativity, and community. She is incredibly patient and kind, yet also firm. My daughter can be very stubborn, and there were many times I was amazed at how Megan was able to work through that and spark curiosity in her to continue. I recommend having your child learn from Megan - it will truly be a gift to your child, as well as your whole family.”
